What Causes Mild Numbness On Left Side Of Body?

Posted on Thu, 12 May 2016
Question: Hi. 3 days ago, I started experiencing mild numbness on my left side of the body, from the head to my toe. I also have shoulder pain and tightness. I did overstretch while lifting my daughter a couple days prior, but could that cause it. My anxiety is making it worse. I guess my question is, if it was signs of a stroke or heart attack, would something more have happened by now since it's day 3.

Brief Answer:
No heart attack, stroke very unlikely.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

The answer to your question is straightforward, no there is no such thing as heart attack that may cause those symptoms, stroke also is very unlikely at your age.

Furthermore, both these conditions worsen with time if not treated.

It is a condition related most likely to Chiari malformation, but also can be a feature of anxiety.

However, expected MRI will give additional information and reassurance about your concerns.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards.
