To conform inflammation of the thyroid cartilage or thyroid gland ultrasonography of neck will be helpful. It will also rule out other thyroid disorders.
Inflammation of thyroid gland is more common than thyroid cartilage.
If I were your treating Doctor for this case, I would advice you
continue NASID for pain and inflammation &
Investigation like ultrasonography of neck to conform inflammation of thyroid.
If inflammation present, next step will be thyroid profile test. Follow up needed every 3 month.

Understanding the anatomy of the throat, only on an elementary level, can thyroid disorders cause pain in the thyroid cartilage? My primary care and ENT checked my thyroid, although without ultrasound or xray, and said it appeared to be fine.
I mentioned a slighted size variance in the right side of the thyroid cartilage but it is mainly noticed my feeling.
One other thing that may or may not be linked is that I have battled with severe GERD over the past years. Not knowing if this is related, I thought this may or may not help with your consult.

Yes thyroid disorders can cause pain in thyroid cartilage mainly inflammatory , infectious & tumors .
Ultrasound of neck will rule out any problem in neck .
Severe GERD can give rise to mild pain in thyroid cartilage mainly inside in throat . Epiglottis , aryepiglottic fold get congested & swollen .
For severe GERD , most important is life style modification .
Avoid excess coffee/tea/chilled food & beverages/excessive sour & spicy food/alcohol/smoking (if any). Timely eating & sleeping , taking food 3 hour before sleep .
Medication needed like tab Esomeprazole in morning empty stomach for 6 weeks . It is prescription drug .
