What Causes Minimal Articular Cartilage Irregularity In The Right Hip Joint?

default
Posted on Fri, 18 Sep 2015
Question: I just had an MRI on my right hip. It showed minimal articular cartilage irregularity in the right hip joint with no fracture, erosions, joint effusion or AVN. Is this arthritis? What is the treatment and can I jog or should I use the elliptical?

Brief Answer:
Due to arthritis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The minimal articular cartilage irregularity is suggestive of an inflammation of the cartilage. It can be due to arthritis caused by wear and tear.
If there is no pain or restriction of movement then it should subside with mild anti inflammatory medicines. In case there is a pain then do avoid jogging or using an elliptical till the pain subsides completely.
Do resume the exercise gradually after the pain subsides. Regular exercise will help in retarding further deterioration of these arthritic changes.
I hope this answers your query.
