Hello and welcome,
I understand the problem.
Some of the symptoms seem to be inter related. The absent periods, negative urine tests and acne are more suggestive of polycystic
ovarian disorder [ PCOD]. This is a common condition where there are minor
hormonal imbalances that lead to trapping of ova inside the ovary and not allowing its release. This in turn aggravates the hormonal dysfunction and the problem continues.
The common symptoms of PCOD are irregular menses and acne or
hirsutism [ excess body hair]. The hormonal disturbances may not be evident if tested early at the onset of the disease. Even then an
ultrasound, baseline hormone levels on day 1 of periods after giving
progesterone to induce periods are needed. Treatment can then be started as per the reports.
Another reason may be a urine test that was taken too early. The test comes positive only 7-10 days after the missed period. If taken early, it may give a false negative value. So it is best to take it 2-3 weeks after missed periods to reconfirm that it is indeed negative. So kindly check the dates when you tested and if it was early than required. If yes then just repeat it with a first morning urine sample.
There are a few other reasons for these : hormonal imbalances other than PCOD like
thyroid and
prolactin disorders, stress, vigorous exercise and ovarian cysts [ not uncommon at your age]. A PCOD profile test includes tests for thyroid and prolactin so if rest is negative an ultrasound may show the lesion.
About the dark urine:
Commonest cause is less water intake. Other reasons for dark urine are liver dysfunction, excess breakdown of red blood cells in the body or infections and drugs. You will need a liver function test and urine analysis for this.
So the plan for you is first check if the urine test was done at correct time and if no repeat it. If it is negative, drink plenty of water and see if the urine color returns to normal. Also check to see if your eyes and skin are yellow or white. If they are white and you get clear urine after drinking water [probably liver is ok], you may wait for a few days for periods. If the urine continues to be dark, you need to rule out the cause and must see your physician as well as gynecologist as soon as possible.
Please do not worry as the problem is not likely to be a major one and the history is short so the condition may be easily treatable.
Hope this satisfies your query.
