What Causes Motion Difficulties And Swelling In Finger After Cat Bite?
Question: I was bitten by a cat 2 months on 4 fingers. My index finger on my left hand has not healed completely. The skin has healed over, but my finger is still swollen, red and inflamed. I have already used amocillin/clauvanate twice. This had almost no effect. My finger also has restricted in movement. I can not play my guitar. What should I do ? Would an injection of an antibiotic help ? How long will my finger take to heal completely? Should I try to exercise my finger....for example by trying to play my guitar despite the pain???
Brief Answer:
you need to see plastic suregon
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Cat bites may be very serious and unpleasant injuries since these wounds are usually infected and heal for longer period. Antiobitic therapy is always required.
In your case, there seems to be more deep sibfascial infection that involved finger tendons. It still may heal in next few weeks. But it would be better option to see plastic surgeon or hand surgeon to rule out necessity for surgical procedure of freeing inflamed tendons.
Wish you good health. Regards

If there is sign of infection then it should be immobilized. If there are only motion difficulties and swelling then you need specific physical therapy for finger contractures.
