What Causes Muscle Cramps In Hands And Arm?
After careful monitoring and evaluation, yes, you can get better soon!!!
Detailed Answer:
Dr. Hanif warmly Welcomes you back here!
Thanks for coming back here and trusting our services. I appreciate this follow up.
You need some important tests to rule out the reason for the cramping in your hands and arms. In addition to the Zegerid adverse effects, there a lot more reasons for these symptoms to appear at this age.
PROBABILITIES:-
At this age, I have seen many of my patients, ignoring their diets and nutrition and getting nutritional deficiencies (Bread and Toast Syndrome). These also may lead to neuropathic pains and weakness, shakiness in limbs and a lot more side effects.
DEFICIENCIES YOU NEED TO COVER UP BY TAKING A HEALTHY AND BALANCED DIET:-
*Iron may get depleted in true/strict vegetarians. It may lead to low hemoglobin levels and low RBSs levels. This causes the weakness and malaise and limbs are affected very often. Anemia is the cause of cramps in muscles and is common in this age.
*Vitamin B12 deficiency causes the neurological problems and pain, weakness and shakiness may appear. Vitamin B12 shots may be needed for the deficiency.
*Vitamin D deficiency leads to a lot of symptoms affecting metabolic processes in the body.
*Calcium and Vitamin C deficiency may lead to cramping in hands.
*Thyroid problems may also lead to issues with cramping and shakiness in hands.
*Liver disorders may also contribute; so may be diabetes mellitus involved in such issues.
INVESTIGATIONS NEEDED:-
CBC with ESR and Differentials.
Serum Electrolytes.
Serum proteins.
Vit. B12 and Vit D levels.
Liver function tests.
Fasting blood sugar levels and HbA1c levels.
Thyroid profile.
Management Until You get to a Gastroenterologist:-
Gastroenterologist will get your stomach hyperacidity issues handled. Ask your primary care physician (PCP) to do the above said labs and check for any issues. The specific treatment may be started after getting the blood work reports.
In the meantime start taking green leafy vegetables, salads, dry fruits and fresh fruits more.
A multivitamin daily is good to be taken after the breakfast.
Daily 15 minutes time to be spent outside in sunlight is necessary to allow the body to make enough Vitamin D. But apply sunscreen lotion and wear sunglasses to avoid any problems.
Take plenty of water and keep a good night's sleep.
NOTE:-
Physical Therapy of the arm will be very beneficial. Take a referral script from your PCP.
Ask your physician to check for any issues with the Rotator Cuff (of the shoulder) and if needed get referred to an Orthopedist for proper evaluation and treatment.
Have a wonderful time ahead. Hope I answered all of your questions. Let me know if you have any further clinical concerns or doubts. I will be more than happy to get back to you in no time. If satisfied here, please give a generous five star rating to help us assist our patients in a better way; and, please don't forget to 'Close This Discussion'.
For any disease you have, a timely follow-up after sometime regarding the treatment efficacy and to see if there is any need to change the treatment options is very necessary. So keep a follow up to see how you doing (Write down my name in the start of your question always & I will be with you sooner).
