Question: hello slipped and fell on deck stairs due to black ice about two weeks ago had a bruise on my lower back that was tender bruise is subsiding but still is tender certain movement cause muscle spasm any thoughts?

Brief Answer: Possible fracture of the spine Detailed Answer: Hi XXXXXXX Thanks for your query. These types of falls are very painful. Its not unusual to continue to be symptomatic at this stage. I would however be concerned that you may have a fracture in your spine. The commonest type of fracture after this type of fall would be one of the spinous process. This could make your symptoms last quite a bit longer that a soft tissue injury and so it would be worth making this diagnosis by taking an X-ray of your spine. Anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic medication may be of benefit. I would start physiotherapy as soon as you can physically do so and massage therapy may be of benefit. Best wishes
