What Causes Muscle Spasms In Limbs And Feet After Treatment For Stomach Migraines?

Question: Hi my 12 year old daughter was admitted to hospital yesterday with stomach migraines. She had taken toradol and Immetrex and Prilosec. The migraine moved from intense stomach pain to aura with headache last night in hospital. They treated with Prilosec, Compazine, Toradol (increased dose) and fluids along with Depakote. The stomach pain resolved and migraines somewhat subsided. They were preparing to release her to go home this afternoon and she started having what appeared to be muscle spasms or seizures with changes in muscle activity from feet, limbs and facial contorsion as well. She is unable to stand due to muscle weakness. She has never experienced the muscle spasms or seizure affects. Could this be related to a drug to drug interaction or the Depakote. They conducted a CT (no contrast) tonight and were unable due to spams to conduct an MRI. An MRI is scheduled in the morning. Could this be Depakote or should we be looking for another issue? Thank you!

Brief Answer:
Not depakote

Detailed Answer:
Dear,
I am sorry for the symptoms your daughter is suffering.

It is rather difficult to connect the symptoms of your daughter with any side effect of Depakote.

Blood test should be taken to control any big electrolytes changes, a brain EEG should be scheduled.

Please inform me about MRI result.
In my opinion those are reversible symptoms and under intense treatment your daughter will be back to normal.

Inform my about the examination I asked so I can be more helpful.

Hope your daughter has started recovery.

Wish you all the best
