What Causes Nausea, Lack Of Appetite And Vaginal Spotting While On Birth Control Pill?
Question: I've been on the XXXXXXX pill for birth control for 6 weeks now. Started it December 1st, had a period that started December 20th then have had spotting/breakthrough bleeding for almost 2 weeks which I know is common with starting birth control and with the XXXXXXX pill. But no other side effects. Well the past 5 days except today, I'm feeling better I've been pretty much non-stop nauseous, no appetite, no fever. I missed work up until yesterday I was feeling that icky. Well my period is due to start again here in a few days and I'm wondering if the bad nausea could be caused by the pill even after 6 weeks of taking it as a lead up to my period? That wouldn't make sense to me, but I don't know if this can happen after being on it for a month and a half? I'm not pregnant either. So did I just have a stomach bug like I assumed until I thought about it?
Brief Answer:
Not likely to be due to minipill.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The excessive nausea that you are having is less likely to be due to minipill as you are already taking it for last 6 weeks.
The nausea can be related to a stomach bug or gastritis. It is best to take an over the counter anti emetic and have a light easy to digest meals.

OK good. I was concerned it was the pill doing it and was worried about this happening every month before my period. So there's pretty much no way it could be that considering the length I've been on it and haven't had any issuesm
