Question: I've had bile duct stents placed every three months for a year and a half. I'm due to have the Stent removed on wednesday. Ive been having nausea, right upper abdominal pain and now I can feel my liver. It feels enlarged. I called my GI doc and he seemed unconcerned. Should I go to the ER?

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you for asking on HCM.

You are reporting to have bile duct stent and recently you are feeling right abdominal pain, nausea and enlarged liver.

Right abdominal pain and nausea may be related with :
- the bile duct stent is not functioning properly and biliary sludge is deposited on it
- constipation and enlarged large bowel.
To my opinion you are not palpated an enlarged liver. The liver can not be enlarged in such a short time.

Otherwise if you will have fever than I suggest to go to ER and perform abdominal ultrasound to check if you have enlarged bile duct ,if the stent is working properly or if you have acute infection of biliary tree.
Hope it was helpful to you.
