Is It Alright To Take Befolvit And Duphaston During Pregnancy?
hey i am 27 years old n i am pregnant with my 1st baby...i am less than 4 weeks pregnant and my doctor has advised me to take 1 tablet of BEFOLVIT 5 mg daily and 2 tablets of DUPHASTON 10 mg daily...is it ok if i take them? i have abdominal pain 2-3 times a day for a very short time like the one i used to have in my normal periods.
It is recommended to take folic acid (Befolvit) during early pregnancy. Hence, there is no problem in taking that. Regarding Duphaston, it is a hormonal medicine used in a variety of conditions. During pregnancy it is usually given to prevent miscarriage if there is any risk
Do you have any history of spontaneous pregnancy loss? Lower abdominal pain may be an early sign of abortion. I think your doctor did not want to take any risk as it is your first pregnancy. Hopefully it will be given for a short period and you can take it.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Abu Sayeed Mustafa, General & Family Physician
