What Causes Nausea, Vomiting, Bloating And Indigestion After Eating Seafood?
Question: Two weeks ago, while on vacation I got ill, painful, full, bloated feeling and finally violently throwing up, after eating seafood. I ate a seafood pasta the first night and was fine. The next day I ate seafood nachos for lunch, again fine. Then we stopped at a seafood market and had them boil shrimp. I ate a few shrimp not with a fish spread as did my husband. I started feeling nauseous and bloated as if the shrimp were just sitting on my stomach and not digesting properly. After an hour or so I finally threw,up before I felt like I was going to be okay. This has happened before only when I've eaten boiled shrimp I must mention. So my husband ate the exact foods, we even split the seafood ate and he never got sick. Same with the seafood nachos,we shared those and he never got sick. Neither did I, until after ate the boiled shrimp. Two days later I ate the leftover seafood pasta, only a few bites and began to feel nauseous once again. Again, I felt awful until I threw up, violently enough that I thought I thought I'd pulled a muscle in my neck. The week before I ate seafood, shrimp scampi, at a restaurant and had no I'll effect at all. Why now? Could it have been I got sick because the seafood was freshening Florida than when I ate at restaurant in XXXXXXX where I live?? I also, the week on vacation, ate crab claws and grouper and, again, had absolutely no I'll effects. Thank you for your assistance!
Brief Answer:
2 possible causes
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I am Dr Mittal.
I have read your message.
I think I can help you.
The symptoms of the query are quite suggestive of 2 possible causes.
1. food allergy.
There's a strong possibility that the boiled shrimp is not suiting you. I consider this as your query stated 2 separate episodes of such a problem.
2. a severe gastritis.
I would suggest that you try Tab PANTOPRAZOLE 40 mg twice a day for the symptoms if they persist.
I have tried to make it as simple as possible. I hope that the information contained in this message will be able to help you find the best solution for your problem.
Best of luck.
