What Causes Nerve Pain In The Hip?
![default](/r/images/default.png)
The blood supply to femoral head is likely to be compromised
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. The blood supply to the femoral head is through the center of the ball (from inside of the socket in the hip) and a fracture of the neck of the femur is likely to compromise this blood supply. This leaves the femoral head avasuclar (without blood supply) and eventually dead, thus susceptible to collapse and unable to bear weight. Surely, you can wait for it to actually happen. The other alternative is to be presumptive and to undertake the femoral head replacement outright. I hope that explains why the doctor wishes to undertake the procedure. Had the crack been elsewhere, possibly he would not have opted for this.
Let me know if I could help further.

Has the ball been replaced?
Detailed Answer:
Clinical discretion is required here. The hip joint consists of a ball and a socket. I assume that the ball has been replaced but I am not certain that there is anything wrong with the socket and I doubt if it needs to be replaced. The exact parameters need to be looked into but that is beyond the scope of an online discussion. You would therefore have to discuss directly with your treating doctor.
Feel free to write back.
