Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Neurocysticercosis is caused by infected food. The most common source are uncooked vegetables, carrot, spinach which is consumed raw or uncooked pork.
The cysticercus dies gradually and in most cases no future problem occurs.
In few cases the seizures may persist for more than 2-3 years.
The management is to give antiepileptics and albendazole. The treatment duration depends upon resolution of lesion and in most cases may be required for 2-3 years.
The precautions to be taken are timely sleep, cooked food, regular medication.
The prognosis is good.
The child can attend school after 1-2 weeks when drug levels are settled. The chances of recurrence are more during initial 1-3 months and require vigilance.
Avoid traveling alone, open roof top, fire places, swimming.
Hope all your queries are answered.
