What Causes Nose Bleeding When I Blow Nose?
Nasal bleed is secondary to dryness and nose picking...
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for posting the query. I do understand your concern and will try my best to help you with this problem.
The front part of the nasal septum is richly supplied with the blood. There is also confluence of the blood vessels in the front part of the nose (Little's area) and this is the foremost area to get exposed to the outer environment. This area also becomes vulnerable for drying up frequently. Dryness of the nasal mucosa causes crusting and the presence of the latter causes irritation. Repeated nose picking to remove the crusts causes the nasal skin to become raw and leads to recurrent bleeding.
The blood that oozes out gets mixed with the nasal secretions and when you cough it out you will notice the blood tinged phlegm. Do not worry! This is one of the commonest problems of nasal bleed, with appropriate treatment this can be cured completely.
My suggestions to you are:
1. Drink plenty of warm water.
2. Use saline nasal spray and saline nasal ointment available OTC.
3. Avoid chilled food and beverages/coffee/smoking, if any.
4. Avoid nose picking and using tissue into the nose.
With the above measures you will definitely feel better. Revert back to me if you have any follow-up queries.
