What Causes Nose Bleeds?
Question: I started nose bleed five days ago. Stopped nasal spray. Used saline solution and bit of gasoline as suggested by pharmacist. Bleeds stopped for almost two days. Started back last night. Another this morning.
Brief Answer:
do not put gasoline in your nose
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
When you have recurrent nose bleeds the best thing to do is to pinch the top of your nose until it stops then apply cool compresses to the nose (not ice). Gasoline is very toxic and should never be applied to the skin especially the sensitive mucous membranes of the nose. I suggest that you find another pharmacist.
If you continue to get nosebleeds you will need to see an ENT doctor for a cauterization of the bleeding vessels.
If the bleeding is ever severe or will not stop then go to Emergency right away.
Let me know if you have further questions.
