Brief Answer:
are you diabetic?

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
First speaking about tingling numbness in toes, I would like to know whether you have diabetes mellitus or not. If yes then is it under well control?
Peripheral neuropathy is commonly seen in diabetic people whom sugars are not well controlled.
Also I would like to know whether tingling is in the same toe in which hip replacement has been done?
For the tenderness in hip after surgery have you got done any x ray recently of the hip to look whether the prosthesis is in place?
Kindly answer me above questions so I can guide you better.
Awaiting your answers.
Thank you

I do not have any form of Diabetes to my knowledge. The tingling and numbness occurs in the toes of both feet; more so in the big toe and two adjoining toes. I also seem to have less range of motion in those toes when I try to "curl" my toes. I don't experience any noticeable difference in the numbness/tingling between the two feet. The hip surgery was 2 years ago and I have experienced no problems; however, recently I have experienced an occasional "burning" sensation which I can't associate with any particular type of activity. I had an x-ray just about a year and a half ago on the hip and everything was fine. The tingling started almost a year ago. Initially, it felt as if I had "spider web" wrapped around a couple of toes and it has become progressively worse and now affects more toes. Thanks for asking for clarification and additional information. I also forgot to mention that I'm being treated for High Blood Pressure with some additional prescribed medications to promote a "healthy heart". I'm taking Lisinopril 20mg (3 tablets per day), Hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg (once per day), Metoprolol 25mg (once per day), Atorvastatin 80mg (once per day), and lastly Aspirin 81mg (once per day).

Brief Answer:
kindly get examined to rule out peripheral neuropathy

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Thanks for following up with me.
You have answered well to my queries and I got better idea about the problem now.
From my experience and your description, I feel there could be few possibilities of your problem which will need ruling out by conducting certain examinations and tests.
1. Diabetic neuropathy - still my 1st diagnosis, get your fasting blood sugars, post prandial sugar and HbA1c checked. Clinical examination of the toes to look for neuropathy will be needed in which we do certain tests like vibration sense and so on. If you are found diabetic it could be because of that and controlling blood sugars will help tremendously and will be important.
2. Vitamin B12 deficiency - it could be this and may be causing the sensory disturbance in your toes. Getting a serum B12 levels will give us better idea of the same.
3. Any other spinal problem- any poblem occuring in spinal cord may also give rise to this problem that you have which can be ruled out by MRI spine.
I hope your hypertension is under well control that you are already on medications.
I would like to advice you to consult your physician and get the basic tests and clinical examinations which I mentioned above done and see whether any diagnosis is arrived.
Meanwhile you can take tablet containing pregabalin and vitamin B12 and other multivitamin containing so as to help reduce the tingling. In XXXXXXX trade names are like neurobion forte or pregaba. I do not know names in you country but you can ask for capsules containing above 2 contents. It will be available over the counter mostly.
I hope I have answered your query satisfactorily.
If you have any questions kindly ask me back will be happy to answer them.
Thank you
