In most cases, it could be a minor viral infection, and in that case, tingling and numbness would resolve in a few days. If the symptoms persist, we would need to investigate with MRI brain to exclude ischemia (lack of blood supply) or demyelination (damage to the covering of the nerves) of the pons region of brain (from where the trigeminal nerve originates).
