What Causes Numbness And Tingling Sensation In The Arms And Legs?

Question: My roommate just told me she experienced numbness on one side of her body in the middle of the night. She is walking and talking now. She says she feels tingling in one arm and leg now. She thinks she had a stroke. She thinks she had one a few years ago. She refuses to seek any medical attention, and always has.
Brief Answer:
Possible TIA
Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.
This sounds like to be transitory ischemic attack or so called TIA and this is sign of increased stroke risk and reduce blood flow through brain. So this is definitely something that must be evaluated in her age since with no treatment, she will suffer major stroke for sure and it may happen soon. TIA is always warning sign that there is reduced carotid artery flow and atherosclerosis of brain vessels. She should do at least Carotid ultrasound and brain CTscan. Wish you good health. Regards
