Question: Hi Doctor,

Good day.

Last year i felt numbness in ledt side of my face. Got all checked No heart problem. And was high diabetic. So workwd on my diabetic and hyper tension and weight. Now its pretty normal. I am on glycomet 500SR and losar 25 twice a day. The numbness was persisting but mild. But last month again the numbness has increased. Left side of the face. Corner of lips and left corner of left eyes. In eyes it feels like there ia some dirt in the corner( we call it kannu pichu in Kannada). Today early morning my right hand little finger was completly numb and no sensation. After i removed my ring then i got it back. I dont feel any headache as such. I feel vomiting when i travel for long at night but not always(probably due to gas at that time i alao have sweating)but if i eat something i get alright. When i do journey for say more than half an hour my neck hurts. I also feel strange feeling on my left leg and hand. A very slight feeling of numbness. And my left ear is having blocking sensation from more than a year. The ear thing started after a flight. Got it checked no wax issue and hearing ia also ok. Can you please guide me. I presently live in XXXXXXX

Regards,
XXXXX

Brief Answer:
Neurologist consultation...

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

I went through your post with diligence. From what I read, you have diabetes and hypertension. You developed numbness on the left side - face, corner of lip / eye, left hand and leg. Incidentally you developed numbness of right finger which improved after removing the ring. Besides this your left ear seems blocked.

Well, though your symptoms are pointing towards a neurological condition; I do not find objective evidence to confirm the condition. A careful neurological examination is therefore warranted. If you had visited a neurologist earlier, undergone blood tests / scans for the same, please share it here. Else, consider consulting now.

Besides neurological disorder, sometimes it could just be somatic disorder when an exact cause is not known. It will improve with pregabalin and vitamin B12 medications.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need clarifications.

Hi please find the MRI report
doctor
Answered by Dr. Dr. Prasad J (15 hours later)
Brief Answer:
MRI is essentially normal.

Detailed Answer:
The MRI is reported as normal. It means the radiologist did not find any structural causes like vascular defects (stroke), demyelination including MS which are known to cause similar symptoms. The report is insignificant.

Generally there are more evaluation done for such purposes. In my patients, I perform blood tests (blood sugar check, vitamin b12, vitamin D, thyroid function and more tests after a thorough neurological examination.

If you haven't consulted a neurologist yet, it would be worthwhile to consult one and get this sorted.

No he did not recomend blood test. I had my blood test done for thyroid few months back its normal. Blood sugar is litttle high as i have a break in my execerse ruitine due to relocation and job change. Attaching his findings. And also on nurokind-d3 one tablet a day for 30 days. FBS b/w 100-125 PPBS 140-160. I can control this once i get settled in the new town and start my excersie.

Brief Answer:
Maintaining sugar is crucial...

Detailed Answer:
I went through the details uploaded. No significant finding was noted by your neurologist. In this context, continue medications as suggested. Gabapin NT has similar effects like pregabalin (as mentioned earlier). And Nurokind D3 contains vitamin b12 as well as vitamin D.

All of these medications are beneficial to you. It should be able to treat your problem. Report to the doctor if you feel very dizzy, drowsy, anxious, nausea and fatigued.

Further management will be based on how you feel and whether those symptoms recur.

Hope this helps.

Regards
