What Causes Numbness In The Big Toe?

Question: After a very busy week, I noticed my big toes were numb. They have continued to stay numb all this week. I have checked my blood sugar and after a busy weekend with lots of company the highest reading was 112. I do not have diabetes, just like to monitor it from time to time, can wearing thong flip flops damage a nerve. I do not have any other symptoms other than being congested. What could be making this continue?
