What Causes Numbness Of Feet?

default
Posted on Tue, 15 Jul 2014
Question: My feet started to feel numb a week ago. I did just wearing new sneakers at the same time. Saw my primary care MD and took a blood test to check for other things. She suggested the sneaker issue. I went back to original pair. Can wearing new sneakers cause this and if so how long can it take for the numb feeling to go away

Brief Answer:
New sneakers could cause numbness.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

I have noted your symptoms and agree with your doctor that wearing new sneakers could cause numbness of feet. This is because of mechanical compression of the nerves in the skin. If this is the cause, numbness would go away in a few days.

I am sure you have been tested for diabetes, vitamin B12 deficiency and thyroid problem, which are other common causes for numbness of feet.

I hope my answer helps. Please get back if you have any follow up queries or if you require any additional information.

Wishing you good health,

Thank you for the reply My PC doctor ordered all the test for the above and I'm awaiting the results. Do you see spinal stenosis as a possible cause?

Brief Answer:
Would be useful to see the reports.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back with more information.

It would be useful to follow up the blood reports.

Spinal stenosis is less likely in the absence of back pain and radiating pain down the legs.

Thank you again , that's what I've heard. I've heard it is not common to show up in the feet first as well? I went back to my old sneakers yesterday.
