What Causes On And Off Fever And Muscle Stiffness?

Question: Hello. I started getting general body aches on Friday night, as one would get with the onset of the flu. On Saturday, Sunday and Monday, I had on and off fever as high as 102.5, which would always come down after taking Advil, but then go back up again. Last night my doctor suspected Lyme's and had blood work taken, but no results yet. Today the fever appears to have alleviated, but now I have extremely stiff muscles from head to toe and am becoming very concerned.

Dear Sir,
Thank you for posting your query on HCM.
Well looking into your problem I would like to tell you that yes there is a possibility that you could be having lymes disease but until and unless test results are available it will be difficult to say anything . It can be some viral fever also as these symptoms are also common with viral fevers .
You should maintain a temperature chart . Since you are already taking an antibiotics and supportive treatment there is nothing to worry it will take care of the disease . Doxycycline is the drug of choice for the condition . Keep yourself hydrated and take balanced foods which is very important for recovery.
Take care.

Thank you for your response. I also have had a sore throat right from the start. So even with the onset of the painful muscle aches and stiffness, you feel there is no need for me to be concerned? What would be the cause of the muscle pain and stiffness getting worse in the past day? My body feels like I've exercised for 24 hours straight.
Brief Answer:
This is myalgia.
Detailed Answer:

One final question. If this is not Lyme's that I have, and indeed was a viral fever instead, do I have to be concerned with avoiding others, especially small children until all symptoms have passed. By the way, no fever today and muscle aches and stiffness have improved. Thanks!

Detailed Answer:
Dear Sir,
Although since we dont have a diagnosis clear cut I cant say but still if its possible for you to avoid small children it will be better because there is a chance of spreading the infection . So, it will be good if you practise that . Keep yourself hydrated , its very important for recovery . It is also advisable to take a multivitamin tablet daily .
Take care.
