Brief Answer: Not a serious issue. Detailed Answer: Hello, Thanks for trusting us with your health concern. The oral ulcers in pregnancy are usually seen due to nutritional deficiencies associated with recurrent vomiting during early pregnancy. The symptoms usually resolve with fluid intake and good oral hygiene. Use chlorhexidine mouth wash and avoid acid drinks, like fruit juices or fizzy drinks, or drink them through a straw so they don't irritate your mouth. Also avoid spicy food and sharp food and citrus fruits. You can use topical ointments like numbing ointments, such as benzocaine (Oragel), anti-inflammatory gels, benadryl allergy liquid mouthwash, oral preparations of vitamin B complex supplements. Oral pain killers like Ibuprofen will also help. But all these medicines are available under prescription and should be taken under a doctor’s guidance. Here are some other healthy drinks you could try: skimmed milk coconut water banana shake It is best to prepare milk shakes and juices at home and drink them immediately. This reduces the risk of any spoilage or contamination. You could also include herbal teas for variety, but make sure you get the go ahead from your doctor first. Try to limit your intake of deep fried and ghee laden snacks. It is better to use plant oils rather than animal fat that is high in saturated fats. Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have. Wishing you good health. Regards. Dr. Rakhi Tayal.
