Question: I have had the top half of the left lung removed for five years my oxygen level was at 96. Then i had a pulmonary embolism, pancreatitis, and gallbladder all at the same time. Now My oxygen drops down to 25% when not on oxygen after twenty minutes. since then I keep gaining weight and can not lose it. when they removed the lung it was attached to my heart sac but the heart is fine.. How can i get my oxygen levels back without being on oxygen all the time. I am sitting at 3 continuous . Also it it makes it tough to loose weight.

Brief Answer:
You should get done 2d echo to rule out Pulmonary hypertension.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Possibility of Pulmonary hypertension (PH) and bronchitis is more.
So better to consult pulmonologist and get done 2d echo and PFT (Pulmonary Function Test).
2d echo is needed to rule out PH.
PFT is needed for the diagnosis of bronchitis.
It will also tell you about severity of the disease and treatment of bronchitis is based on severity only.
You may need inhaled bronchodilators and inhaled corticosteroid along with oxygen.
Also enroll yourself in Pulmonary Rehabilitation center where chest physiotherapy and deep breathing exercises are done. These will improve your lung function and oxygen level.
Also get done adult Pulmonary vaccination with pneumococcal and Influenza vaccines to prevent recurrent respiratory tract infection.
So consult pulmonologist and discuss all these.
Hope I have solved your query.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wish you good health. Thanks.
