Brief Answer:
8-10 days.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I had gone through your question and understand your concerns that you are having pain at operated site.
Most common complications are hematoma (occurs- first 3 days), wound infection ( 2 weeks) , flap necrosis ( 2-3 weeks).
In my opinion, you need to take care of your constructed operated site for 2-4 weeks. you can start solids after 8- 10 days. Complete healing of mucosa and soft tissues takes around 2 weeks, bone healing for several months
Hope this answers your question, if you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
Wishing you good health.

my torus palatinus surgery was done on the 10th of march..iam facing many problems post surgery..there is lot of saliva secretion and i feel like spitting within every few minutes which is so discomforting...i can even feel the sore and ulcer forming on my tongue and in the middle section there is a whitish formation which is very painful and even the right upper row of my teeth feel heavy .i dont know if its a tooth ache or a side effect of the pain in the operated area..i also get headache and the back of my head also hurt sometimes when pain is more..my throat hurts a little bit like a tonsil pain.seems like iam catching cold .are all these symtoms normal after the surgery..and regarding the diet should i eat only cold liquid diet? can i have tea?..i am scared that my operated region has some infection..doctor hasnt given me anyting to apply on my operated area. a dentist fren of mine suggested me that i should apply an ointment on the operatd area ..is it necessary? but i clean my mouth with a salt water and the mouth wash that the doctor has prescrribed,..pls reply the queries ..thankyou -a concerned patient

Hello again,
Thanks for considering my answer and for your follow up.
Answers and solutions for your queries.
1. Excessive salivation is common in healing phase of oral surgery. stop spitting to prevent soreness in tongue.
2. tongue soreness, tooth pain, throat pain and head-ache are common after general Anaesthesia, endotracheal intubation and surgical manipulation. It takes time to resolve.
3. hot beverages causes vasodilation, thereby bleeding and hampering of healing.
Take cold foods for a specific period even the cold tea, as per your treating doctor.
4. Salt water gargle and mouth wash is enough for healing of fresh surgical wounds (do not require any ointment).
Hope, I have answered your query.
Take care.
