What Causes Pain And Bleeding From Ear Canal In A Child?
Question: We were cleaning the ears of my 4 year old son using QTIP and suddenly it caused pain and minor bleeding. The bleeding subsided after 5 mins. We went to the doctor and doctor examined and told that the ear drums are ok and there was slight crack sort of thing on ear canal. Doctor prescribed ciprodex and when we gave it, it caused pain and there was bleeding which stopped after 3 mins.
1> Please advise if it's ok.
2> If at all there is any hole or any thing in ear drum, it will cause continuous bleeding right.

I have gone through your query; it suggests that there is no perforation in the ear drum of your child but injury in the ear canal.
In this condition I personally wouldn't prefer ear drop in the ear. Further I also advise against putting water, oil, ear bud and to avoid infection. Instead of antibiotic ear drop, I prefer to use oral antibiotic for your child if necessary.
