Read your query , understand your concern XXXX as you have painful swollen gums , this is a sign of gingival inflammation this can due to some reasons such as
- Good oral hygiene is not maintained (deposition of food debris in subgingival areas of gums ).
- Improper brushing , or flossing technique.

I will suggest you to maintain good oral hygiene use soft bristle toothbrush to brush your teeth twice daily.
- Do XXXXXXX warm saline gargle two - three times a day.
- Use regularly mouthwash like Chlorhexidine or listerine for rinsing .
- Use waxed floss to clean interdental areas of teeth.
-Avoid gum irritants such as tobacco containing products (if you are taking).
- Gently massage your gums with pulp of your finger in circular motion for one minute.
- You can apply ointment like Stolin gum paint on gums and can take analgesic (painkiller ) like Diclofenac or Paracetamol for pain by consulting with your local doctor.
- You can consult your local doctor and take Vitamin C and folic acid supplements also.

You should consult dentist and go for visual examination and go for Scaling ( oral prophylaxis) for healthy gums .
