What Causes Pain And Numbness In Calf?
![default](/r/images/default.png)
Question: I have a lot of leg and foot pain but a couple of hours ago, my left calf became extremely painful while I was at rest which is not a usual thing. It was so painful that I had to get out of bed. The pain has subsided somewhat but when I laid back down, I noticed how numb my left foot is. So numb and cold that I had to get up again. I noticed the numbness at first but it was overcome by the extreme pain.
Brief Answer:
need to rule out DVT asap.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HealthcareMagic.
Your sudden extremely pain and numbness in your calf could be a sign of Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT).
As it is a life threatening condition, and needs prompt diagnosis and management, i would suggest that you go to an emergency room asap and get a doppler ultrasound of the leg to rule it out.
If that is ruled out, other possibilities are cellulitis of leg or lymphangitis. These are infection and can be treated with antibiotics and painkillers.
Hope i have been helpful.
