What Causes Pain And Numbness In The Fingers?

My mother (aged 54 years) suffered a fracture in her right elbow (humerus) and underwent a surgery on May 5, 2017. Since surgery, she is feeling numbness, pain (occasionally) and reduced sensation in ring finger and little finger.
We consulted orthopedic surgeon who advised to go for NCV and EMG tests. After taking these tests, we saw a Neurologist who advised that ulnar nerve is damaged and it will require another surgery.
Can you please guide me appropriately? Please let me know if any other information/reports are needed.
Surgery will help.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
If the ulnar nerve is damaged then it is best to get it repaired surgically. The pain and numbness can only improve after the nerve is repaired. The extent of damage of the nerve is also variable. But if the repair is not done then it can cause persistent pain and altered sensations in the area. You can discuss regarding a nerve transplant with your neurosurgeon to get all the sensations back.
I hope this answers your query.
