What Causes Pain And Swelling In Ear And Throat?
Question: My left ear is very sore to the touch on the outside of it and the inside is very swollen to the point that I cant even clean my ear. the back of my throat is very swollen and has white spots all over the swollen parts. About 2 months ago I had an ear infection in my right ear but it was nothing like the pain that I have in my left ear now I still have medication from the last affection can I use that in my left ear.

It seems that you got an otitis media and externa secondary to the sore throat you had. It is complication of such infections and severity of pain might indicate the recurrence with more involvement. Swollen tonsils of the pharynx with white spots most likely a pharyngitis with keratosis or candidal infection.
If you have medicines from the last infection yes you can use it. It needs an antibiotics, oral painkillers and lidocaine ear drops for prompt pain relief. I usually suggest a mix of lidocaine and ciprofloxacin drops of the ear, they work like charm.
You need to see an otorhinolaryngologist as middle ear cavity needs to be assessed and also mastoid assessment to rule out mastoiditis which i am sure has involved as well and might need intervention like little myringotomies etc if need. Medicines itself might not be sufficient to get the pus out.A complete assessment of ear and associated canals and mastoid is needed to have a complete clinically correlated treatment plan.
Best case scenario is just conservative management with antibiotics and painkillers, otherwise a little intervention to get the infection and its debris cleared for the ear canal and middle ear cavity.
