What Causes Pain And Tightness In Chest After Tooth Extraction?

default
Posted on Wed, 18 Feb 2015
Question: In may 2014 i had a wisdom teeth extraction after having a blocked jaw cause of it, i don't know if that had anything to do with it but afterwards i started having a severe laryngitis with mild fever and swollen lymph nodes during which i had an episode of swollen wrists, arms and feet. After several visits to the doctor, ecographies and blood tests, i was diagnosed in july with mononucleosis caused by EBV, having a high level of EBV antibodies. The laryngitis went away but i was still having an awful sore throat, with a sharp pain, went to several ENT doctors but they said but neck looked alright. In september my salivary glands got swollen and i was still having that sore throat, after a visit to an infectious disease specialist, i was diagnosed with mumps based on blood tests because i previously had mumps during childhood as well. The throat ache was still there but took several types of antibiotics prescribed by dotors and it wasn't that severe anymore. Meanwhile i started having pain in my chest area, tightness, and i was breathing with difficulty, felt likw choking at times, i was sent to take an xray and had a month later a breathing test which didn't have a very good result, repeated it after a week of bronchitis medicines and it was ok. I also started having wrists pain at times and numbess of hands and lega and a tingling which was at first in the hands and lega area but at times it spread around all over the body, i still have those symptoms at present and that concerns me a lot. I am currently on a treatment with penicilin injections cause my ASO titer is a little high, it got eveb higher after i repeated the blood test for that, 4 weeks after starting the injection treatment. Is it normal to have wrist pain and numbness and tinglings if the ASO titer is 247? Should i take some other tests for that? If so, which ones? I forgot to mention i am 27 years old.
Thank you in advance!

Brief Answer:
no need for other tests.go on with current therapy

Detailed Answer:
Hi my dear,

I am sorry for the situation you are in.

ASO titer is indicating possible strep infection which is usually causing angina.
From what you are describing, strep infection was so severe to cause rheumatic fever with joint aches.

Penicillin injections will help get rid of strep infection, thus reversing your symptoms.
You should also take anti inflammatory medications such as aspirin or ibuprofen if tolerated well especially when it comes to stomach.
You will get better soon but need to have patience and keep following with your doctor as treatment will take some time.

Wish fast recovery!
