What Causes Pain And Vaginal Bleeding After Total Hysterectomy?

Question: I had a hysterectomy 3 years ago. It went bad and I stayed in the hospital for 35 days. since then I have been on the Lupron shot to stop my one ovary I have left to keep from ovulating. I am no longer on the shots. I can not have birth control because I had a clot during the time of the hysterectomy. Is it normal to have a period with no uterus? What can I do to keep the pain away. The pain is already slowly creeping back in my life and I am only 3 weeks off of the shots. Thank you!
Brief Answer:
Hysterectomy
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to healthcare magic.
1. If total hysterectomy is performed you won't get periods as uterus and cervix are removed.
2. There was no necessity to be on lupron for so long if it was total hysterectomy.
3. If subtotal hysterectomy was performed then it is possible that you might get periods.
4. The pain you are experiencing now is unrelated to hysterectomy status.
5. If subtotal hysterectomy is performed then its possible you may get bleeding since you have stopped lupron.
Let me know if you have any more questions.

It was not a total hysterectomy. I still have my cervix and the rt side fallopian tube and ovary. Is it possible since I stopped the Lupron shots that I could be ovulating? Would this be producing more endometeosis which could be causing the pain?
Brief Answer:
Endometriosis ?
Detailed Answer:
Hi
You had not mentioned that you had endometriosis.
If you had endometriosis earlier then the present pain is possibly due to the endometriosis. This needs to be treated.
It is possible that you are ovulating. The periods won't be like earlier. You may find few spots. Thats all.
