Question: I get a dull pain in the base of my head followed by the sensation of being scared, I guess a fluttering. This happened in Oct and last week and now. I had fallen of my roof 11 years ago, I broke T3 and C 3. I am a little scared right now.

Brief Answer:
Please consult neurologist and get MRI scan cervical spine if required

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
As you have hurt your neck and upper back due to a traumatic fall earlier, it is possible that the dull pain might be arising from the injured area. Though T 3 is lower down and less likely to be the problem area, the C 3 region is close enough to cause your symptoms. You should watch carefully for any other associated symptoms like tingling and numbness in your upper limbs and any increase in symptoms with neck movements or certain postures.

With a history of broken C 3 vertebra in the past, it would help to consult a neurosurgeon and get examined clinically. Please inform your doctor in detail about the onset, severity and duration of symptoms during each of the three episodes since October this year.

After clinical examination, a MRI scan of cervical spine might be required to confirm any conditions relating to the cervical spine which can be causing your symptoms. Even a slight pinching of nerves can cause your symptoms and is usually not a serious condition.

Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Aditionally, I have pain and weakness in the back of both legs behind the knee areas. My legs feel like they want to give out on me. This may or may not be related as the leg problems preceeded the above problem by a week or two.

Brief Answer:
Early appointment with your neurologist is recommended

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing back with an update.

It is important to assess your leg weakness symptoms together with the dull ache in the base of your head. It might be that there is some condition that can cause certain changes within the spinal cord and the tracts of nerve bundles which is causing your symptoms. Please do not ignore your leg weakness which preceded your symptoms. I recommend an early appointment with your neurologist.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.
