Brief Answer:
Consultation

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX XXXXXXX thanks for asking from HCM.

I can understand your concern. The headache occurring behind left eye only could be due to

: Eye disease like refractive error/Glaucoma - Such type of headache is localised to eye and have other features like blurred vision, watering from eyes, redness, fear from light, more pain in light/on focusing. Glaucoma pain is very severe and can cause vomiting, light headedness and blindness. You have mentioned that you are taking Metformin.
If you are a diabetic, get eye examination done as early as possible. The doctor will test your visual acuity, intra-ocular pressure, retina to know about any damage. Further treatment will depend upon confirmation of diagnosis.

: Migraine - Migraine can cause one side headache behind eyes, even blurred vision/redness/watering/fear from light, vomiting. Mostly migraine is associated with aura symptoms before pain onset, like bad smell/bad taste/numbness/tingling.

It can be confirmed after ruling out organic cause of headache and consulting neurologist. It can be suspected more if pain occurs after stress/bright light/having positive family history.

Its treatment is medical management, which includes abortive and preventive therapy.

: Eye lesion like benign mass/tumor/infection. Mass lesion in eye can cause pain at local site, visual blurring, bulging eyes, squint. As you have mentioned only few features, I am suspecting all possibilities.

Diagnosis can be confirmed by CT and MRI of orbit and eye. Further treatment will depend upon diagnosis and status of vision.

My advise is to correlate your features and consult doctor accordingly. At home, you can

: Do bed rest
: Take tablet Beta-histine after proper prescription for relief in balance difficulty
: Take tablet Diclofenac after proper prescription.
: Use glasses if you have one.

Hope it will help you. Still in doubt, do let me know, I would be happy to help you.

Thanks. take care.
