What Causes Pain Below Knees?

default
Posted on Fri, 21 Aug 2015
Question: In the last three days both of my legs, beneath my knees, have been ACHING, primarily in the front part of the leg (the shins). The aching began spontaneously. I am unable to sleep without taking naproxen sodium, which hurts my stomach. When the naproxen sodium wears off, the aching returns. Walking does not make the aching better. The only new events in my life: I have begun to cut out/reduce carbohydrates from my diet for weight loss; and I played tennis for the first time in a while last week (twice). But the aching did not begin until five days after my last tennis match. Any ideas as to cause?

Musculo skeletal pain

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Welcome to Health Care Magic, Thanks for writing to us,

I am Dr.Muhammad Ahmad, I have read your question, I understand your concern and will try to help you in the best possible way.

In my opinion this pain is due to your starting tennis in a setting when you were not active this much ,physically, you might be over weight plus started a strenuous sport, and not taking enough carbs , this is taking toll on your body. It is not necessary that aching should start immediately after a physical activity it might take 3--4 days even , depending upon how muscle builds up lactic acid which cause sore muscle fibres.

Bones do pain as well when you are over weight and they are not used to a heavy duty activity, I would suggest you a few things.

1) Take neproxen when you need .
2) Take syrup gaviscon twice a day to protect stomach.
3) Start with simple physical activity then build up stamina and body strength.
4) Do take care of body salts.
5) Do take Centrum and a calcium vitD tab daily.
6) Rub brufen or Voren gel on the paining area.
7) Warm compresses will help too.
8) Rest for few days till it gets better then start with simple activity.
Don't worry this will get better.

I Hope this answers your question, if your have more queries feel free to ask, otherwise close the discussion and rate it. Wish you the best of health.
