1. A couple of days Before I had my first appointment with my doctor 3 weeks ago, I was in very bad pain when visiting my in laws so saw a doctor there. AS it was the weekend, and I had my appointment booked for the MOnday, when he did find I had a fever he precribed 3different antibiotics to cover a few possible infections. I still had the fever on the mon but by the next appointment a few days later the fever was gone. Whilst my pain is still not good, maybe a constant 3 or 4 out of 10 (constantly)it is better than it was (a constant 5 or 6 out of 10) so maybe I did have an infection as well that is now gone.
2. For over 12 months previously had occasional pain and bleeding after sex, and occasional bleeding in between periods. This all got a lot worse, especially bleeding and pain during/after sex in the 3months before my recent appointments. I have tried having sex a few times in last few weeks-pain yes, bleeding, not the last few times. However even when doing 'other things' and reaching orgasm, I have experienced intense pain
3. Both a Pap smear and vaginal ultrasound were done. Pap smear clear but ultrasound showed the polyp that is 'twisted' I was having contact sharp pains in lower left side, but that has eased somewhat (but that's something I've experienced for over 3 years) While I still get that it's all more aching and that bruised feeling.
4. No family history of cancer that I know of, but don't know most of family history on both sides. big history of strokes on mother's side. No history of gastric ulcers or gastritis.
5. No vomiting, was feeling slightly nauseous at times a few weeks ago, but that has passed. Eating doesn't improve things, it often makes me feel a bit worse or certainly more uncomfortable, especially when I have trouble/some s
Pain or discomfort when swallowing. Pain travels to chest.
I haven't eaten the best over the last two year. (After taking on a more demanding job) so have put on a lot of weight in that time). I was already overweight before that though and had been for a few years. I do try and eat fairly well but do find that when I am tired/time poor can be eating badly at least a few times a week at least, as well as all the bad snacks etc in between. I know I'm not as fit as I should be and am overweight. MY blood pressure was up slightly last doctors visit, but can't remember the actual numbers-but family history of this as well.
I also forgot to mention that my iron levels were apparently up, my mother has haemochromatosis, but I haven't got it.
I also have always, since a teenager, gotten lots of headaches-not migraines-but lots of headaches. in recent years have been taking mersyndol (codeine based) at least a couple of nights most weeks.
A couple of years ago was also founded to have a bulging disc between c5/c6 (I think that's correct area-in neck/shoulder area. Whilst the specialist said that he couldn't say this was the cause, I also have constant tremors in my left hand that are worse with more physical activity etc, which I believe must be related to this.
I hope this is enough info.
tHank you
I hope this is more helpful?
Hello,
I realized I forgot to answer one of your questions-
No, I don't drink very much at all, only socially- and that's not very often these days. I also have never smoked.
Also, with all the other tests I had done, they checked my kidneys/ ovaries etc as well and all was fine. I have also had a vaginal ultrasound done 3 years ago when pain in lower left side started to check all above, nothing was found then.
I am also the mother of 3 children, the youngest who is ten years old.
Thank you
Thank you.
Infection associated with polyp
Detailed Answer:
Hi there.
Welcome back.
Thank you for providing good history.
I am happy to know that you don't have any family history of cancer and pap smear is normal.
After careful analysis of history
Bleeding in between periods and after intercourse can be attributed to polyp.
Usually 90% of polyps are benign and asymptomatic.
But when polyps are symptomatic it is advisable to remove them and send for histological examination. Removal of polyp is a minor surgery and can be done as a day care procedure.
The symptoms of loss of appetite might be due to infection in poly and which will settle once polyp is removed.
The symptoms like numbness in hands might be due to cervical disk bulge.
Its advisable to consider to undergo ECG to check for any cardiac involvement for chest pain symptom.
Slightly raised blood pressure might due to pain so it is likely to revert back once the condition settles.
Kindly see a gynecologist and discuss further course of action for polyps.
Hope this satisfies your query.
Feel free to discuss further.
Best regards....Dr.Srilatha
