What Causes Pain In Abdomen Radiating To Back?

Question: Hello, I have had several episodes(around 8 or 9) in the last year where I am having middle abdomin and left side pain(kinda under my ribs) that also feels like it radiates to the back. I feel bloated on that side and sometimes it is sensitive to touch. I get a gurgle type sound on that side at times and other times no sound but, I am not gassy. I can't tell if the abdomen looks distended but it does feel that way. I cannot get comfortable laying flat or on left side. Not much relief sitting up or laying on my right side. I don't have a fever, however, this time, I am having episodes of feeling extremely heated and sweating for an hour at a time then it disappears. I had them in the late evening & middle of the night last nite. The pain has still not resolved and it started a week ago. I am a diabetic (type 1) with complications of uncontrolled sugars(doctors call me a "brittle diabetic") and nueropathy. I have also been diagnosed with GERD and keep intense heartburn and take meds to control it. If I don't take the med EVERYTHING, including milk and water gives me indigestion and heartburn. I have been losing weight as well, but this could be caused from my sugar levels when they are high. I am always tired anymore and have no energy. I am really concerned about this new abdomenal and side pain because it has come and gone now for months, and this time I am having the sweats with it. I am a 47 yr old female, have had a hysterectomy and have had my appendix removed. I did go to the hospital 1 time about this pain the second time I had it happen and they found nothing wrong with any test or blood work. My blood pressure is good.(it is NEVER high even when I am extremely sick or in pain), matter of fact, it generally runs a bit low normally. I do have high cholesterol which I take medication for. I am a smoker and very very rarely drink any alcohol. Just at a lose as to what to do about this problem because I already have enough health issues. Oh, I also have back, hip and knee issue that I am in pain management for and take 5mg oxycotin for. Which by the way does not help this new left side and middle abdominal pain. Please help, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I feel that none of my doctors or the ER seem to take too seriously in my opinion, because their "tests" aren't showing anything. So I feel like they think I'm crazy...
Brief Answer:
get MRI of abdomen and pelvis .
Detailed Answer:
Welcome at HCM
i have gone through your query and being your physician I completely understand your health concerns.
Since you are having diabetes , it is probable that you have developed autonomic neuropathy leading to decreased motility of gut resulting in bloating.
As your all blood tests came back normal then you really should have MRI of abdomen and pelvis so that any abnormality can be picked. If it comes back normal then you should be treated for irritable bowels.
Meanwhile stay calm and use Omeprazole for Gerd, keep blood sugar controlled and use acetaminophen to relieve pain.
Hope it helps
