What Causes Pain In Both Of Wrists And Thumbs After Taking Lovastatin?

default
Posted on Mon, 26 May 2014
Question: I have been on Lovastatin daily for 6 months. I suffer from extreme pain in both of my wrists and thumbs. Could this be related to the Lovastatin? In the past, I had been prescribed Simvastatin and had to stop taking the medication because of severe joint pain. My RA Factor is WNL.

Brief Answer:
I were to switch on Atorvastatin

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear.

Lovastatin causes muscle, joint and tendon pains of wrist, palm and fingers. I have seen this side effect in a few of my patients. They performed reasonably well without side effects as I switched on to Atorvastatin. Perhaps you need the change too.
