What Causes Pain In Chest And Back?
Most likely the symptoms suggest GERD ( reflux gastritis )
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX I am Dr. Mody and I would be addressing your concern.
The symptoms you describe and you age it still fits into gastritis and more precisely GERD, reflux gastritis, whereby some stomach acid reflux s back into the food pipe causing chest discomfort radiating to the back .
Rather than just sos medication,
Consider taking Tab omez or preferably neksium 40 mg once a day before breakfast for 3 - 4 weeks to allow complete healing of the stomach mucosa. Taking only sos medication would not allow this to happen .
Apart from that lifestyle modification, like NO tea , coffee, chocolates, aerated drinks, alcohol or smoking.
Avoid spicy food , smaller meals and avoid sleeping atleast for 2 hours after your meals .
Taking the above precaution would resolve your problem .
For the heart , just check your pulse in both hands to screen for any aortic disease ( the main artery supplying ) the body . A physical examination by a doctor would be helpful to rule out other causes .
I don't per say feel heart is the cause of your symptoms, however you may get a baseline Ekg , if you have high risk factors like smoking, obesity or strong family history of heart disease.
Hoping I could help.
