There is a eustachian tube which connects middle ear with back of throat. Any infection of middle ear can cause the blockage and swelling of eustachian tube resulting in pain on swallowing. Similarly a sore throat will lead to pain in middle ear because cranial nerves directly connect both of them. Similarly tonsillitis,pharyngitis,swimmers ear can also cause pain in ear on swallowing. A thorough history and examination by a doctor would reveal the diagnosis and a proper antibiotic and anti inflammatory course shall make the things all right.
