What Causes Pain In Groin Area?
Question: I have ache in my right groin area which sometimes goes to my buttocks. This started in November with stiffness in my right hip lower back , I eventually struggled to walk due to a pinched nerve or sciatica. I still struggle to walk it is now 2 months I need walking aids to help me as it tires me out. The pain is a ache more than severe pain I have had X-ray and scan I am at my wits end. Why am I experiencing such trauma I was quite active before. I am 63 years ne t month.

Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.
You are experiencing these symptoms probably due to aging spine changes and nerve compression.
Pain to your groin area and buttocks may be related to compression of femoral nerve that causes a condition called Meralgia Paresthetica.
Sciatica due to pinched nerve manifests with leg pain and leg sensory changes in a distribution fashion.
At your age should be considered and coccofemoral joint dysfunction, but you had x-Rays that probably excluded this condition.
I suggest you to consult a Neurologist and have a neurological evaluation of your concerns, further tests needed (nerve conduction study or EMG, Lumbar column MRI as well) in order to have a correct diagnosis and further treatment possibilities.
You should discuss also about Meralgia Paresthetica and its treatment (loosing weight, wearing loose clothes, no belt and NSAID drugs initially).

Thank you Dr Spaho I know what to do now, I cant believe my doctor has dragged this on and on for so long. I will go back to my doctor and ask to be referred to a neurologist and take my x-rays and other medical notes thank you
