What Causes Pain In Knees While Resting?

default
Posted on Mon, 17 Aug 2015
Question: I have knee pain only at rest. Sometimes i get the same pain in my elbows. Pressure helps but doesn't eliminate the pain. I have no pain when i am going about my day until i try to rest more than ten minutes. What can be the cause? My dr gave tramadol b/c he thinks it may be a form of RLS
I forgot to mention that Mineral Ice helps the pain a little but I can hardly stand to rub it into my knees or elbows. Not due to pain when they are touched but an uncomfortable sensation, almost like a hyper sensitivity

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXX,
Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com.
I am Dr.Ajay Panwar,a neurologist,here to answer your query.

You are having pain in knees primarily at rest which improves as you get going. This is suggestive of some probably inflmmatory pathology in joints.Same is the cause of elbow joints pain. These are not the symptoms of Restless legs syndrome(RLS).

You may need to undergo a X-Ray of knee joints and blood investigations.A trial of anti-inflammatory medicines will likely help.

For further expert opinion on this, you need to get yourself physically examined by a Rheumatologist(Joint specialist). Please visit the one.

If you have any follow up questions,I shall be glad to answer.

Dr.Ajay Panwar,
