Question: I was diagnosed with pneumonia last Friday in the ER. I was having excruciating pain down my left side and under my left breast. They gave me Bactrim and Levaquin and Norco. I am still experiencing the pain ( not as bad ) but Shouldn't I start feeling better by now. I am 57, non-smoker and tired of being tired.

Brief Answer:
Sequelae of pneumonia / Gastric discomfort. Supportive care

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. Pneumonia is followed by a common sequelae of pain. Infection may subside early but pain may stay there for a week or two. Also this location of pain in left costal margin should be evaluated for gastric discomfort too like gastritis. So i would like you to try pepto as well with moifying diet and lifestyle and see if it helps.

Stay compliant to your antibiotics course and take some advil for the pain. See if it helps. If the pain persists, get re evaluated for other reasons like gastric discomfort as possible cause of the pan. No worries.

I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.

Khan
