What Causes Pain In Left Wrist?

Question: I am a golfer and have had some serious left wrist pain (I'm right handed golfer). At times, I cannot bear the pain to play so finally I went to Dr. They did X-Rays and MRI (without contrast). The only thing they say they saw was a bruised lunate bone. so they give me NSAIDS and a splint, tell me to ice it and rest it. I rested it 4 weeks and tried playing golf again. Pain was still there and radiating to my hand (between my lunate and knuckles). I also get some pain in the right side of my wrist (while palm is up). So I go back to Dr. on Tuesday and they say I may have tendonitis as well so he gave me an injection in the joint of the wrist. Told me to take 2 days off before I play golf again. Just went to play golf again today and I felt great for the first 20-30 shots and then it began to hurt again like crazy. They discussed possible Kienbocks but said that is an unlikely diagnosis. I am concerned there is something else going on and they may have missed something while only doing the MRI without contrast?? What would you recommend I do? I rely on playing golf as a source of supplemental income so I need to be able to play and play without pain.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for your query.
From the description it seems that It could be Kienbocks disease(avascular necrosis of lunate bone) causing your symptoms.
In its early stages, Kienböck's disease may be difficult to diagnose because the symptoms are so similar to those of a sprained wrist.
If you wish you can upload the x-ray and MRI reports so that I can help you in better ways.
I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.
Take care
