Brief Answer:
Need to rule out kidney and hormonal disorders, limb elevation, compression

Detailed Answer:
Hi there.

Thanks for the query.

Have you ever suffered from kidney or liver disease?

What about any hormonal disorder?

Are you on any oral medication?

Water retention could be caused by kidney problems commonly or hormonal disorder like Hypothyroidism.

I advise you to keep your limbs segregated and apply compression stockings to both the legs. This will help drain away fluid. Also if you have knee pain you must use a knee cap while walking. You cab take Paracetamol or Acetaminophen 1000mg twice a day for 5 days for pain. Apply hot packs over the knees. Avoid squatting, cross leg sitting, climbing stairs, kneeling.

If possible kindly get these investigations - Complete blood count, ESR, Serum Creatinine, Blood Urea, Serum Electrolytes, Liver function tests. Aisi get an Xray of the knees if your knees are painful. Kindly upload the reports for further opinion on management of your problems.

I hope I have answered your query.

I will be available to answer your follow up queries.

I just had blood work done and it was fine. Have not seen my regular MD yet. Could it be related to a blood clot. My entire leg including my hip hurts.

I have not had any kind of liver or kidney disease.
My meds are:
Vit D 50,000 DU 1xm, Escitalopram 20 mg 1xd, Atorvastatin 20mg 1xd, Tradmadol 50mg 2 at night, Estring 1mg 3 mo. change every 3 mo.

Brief Answer:
Blood clot unlikely. Get a Venous 2D colour Doppler and Thyroid levels

Detailed Answer:
hello, welcome back.
Usually blood clot would cause calf swelling. It would render the affected limb pale, cold and painful as compared to the other side. You can do a Venous colour Doppler scan of the affected calf to rule out a blood clot.

You could also get tested for Thyroid disease to rule out a common cause of swelling and fluids retention. hope this info was helpful.
