What Causes Pain In Leg?

default
Posted on Fri, 17 Oct 2014
Question: I woke up this morning with extreme pain in the medial and lateral right leg, from the groin down. It was so bad I could not attempt walking. It has calmed down now but the right side of my body feels funny. Should I see my doctor or could this be sleeping on the wrong side kind of thing?

Brief Answer:
It can be nerve related pain

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I have studied your case and I think it can be nerve compression pain. Nerve is getting compressed in the back leading to pain in whole leg. This is called sciatica. It can be a positional pain also. It is good that now you are not feeling any pain.

But to confirm this diagnosis I want to know little detail about this illness.
1.Are you having back pain also?
2. Was your pain associated with tingling and numbness?
3. Are you Diabetic ?

Please send me answer of these questions. I will try my best to help you.

No, I am not diabetic.
I am uncomfortable up the complete side of my body. There is tingling in my arm and the right side of my face feels somewhat tingly. I am having pain going up my right buttock, my right back and my neck.

Brief Answer:
This can be a nerve pain

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have studied your case and I think that your pain is related to nerve compression. If it is also present in upper part then there can be two possibilities.
1. Either it can be a nerve compression in the neck.
2. Or it can be due to deficiency of serum B 12.
I would recommend you following.
1. X ray of the neck
2. serum B 12 estimation
So I would recommend you to get these two tests if your symptoms persists. And i have following suggestions to my patients with similar complains.
1. Tablet Methylcobal one daily
2. Tablet Pregabalin one daily
I hope these treatment will help you. Let me know if there is any other followup questions.
thanks
