What Causes Pain In Scrotum And Anal Area Post Surgery?

Question: I had a recent surgery. During the 36 hour post op I had to use a jug to urinate in. It was difficult and I had to push very hard to urinate.now I have pain beneath my scrotum and anus. It's a dull ache..no bulges..not pain in my testicles. .it feels like a muscle between my legs....does this sound like a Strain....

This is Dr. Swarnava Dattagupta answering your query.

I understand your concern. But dont worry, it looks like a simple muscle strain. It can occur in patients having to urinate or deprecate in bed pans because their position is not correct and they have to put a lot of pressure in order to get it done. There are perineal muscles in the area you mentioned and there can be strain of those muscles.
I would suggest you the following-

Use normal modes to urinate and defaecate if possible. If you still have to use bed pans or jugs, find a comfortable position.
Apply ice locally in the painful area.
You can take tablet aceclofenac-thiocolchicoside for pain.
Take antacids or pantoprazole daily.
Do pelvic floor exercises for a few days.

You will be alright in few days.
You can consult your doctor for prescription of the above.
