What Causes Pain In Testicle After Masturbation?

default
Posted on Thu, 10 Dec 2015
Question: About 2 and a half months ago, I was masturbating — after I reached orgasm and ejaculated, I almost instantly became flaccid. The first week or two after this, I had pain in my right testicle that was on and off, (I'd say the pain level at its highest was a 5.), and visibly I could tell the testicle looked different than it did before this happened. And, on top of that, my penis was extremely soft, basically lifeless, for the first week; the second week it got a little better, and has gotten maybe a bit more better as of the present, but still isn't what it used to be before my testicle decided to go all wacko. After a month, the pain pretty much stopped; when it does hurt, it's more of a discomfort then anything else. I haven't felt any lumps or bumps; I did feel something that I thought was a lump, but I'm pretty sure that it's just the epididymis as it was at the bottom of the testicle and wasn't hard like testicular cancer lumps usually are described. I have masturbated since and have not experienced any other complications. It's also worthy to note I haven't experienced any discharge from the penis, abdominal pain, breast tenderness, lymph node size changes, back pain, etc. I haven't found anything online with this kind of thing happening with masturbation being the starting factor.

Brief Answer:
It could have been a mild Torsion of the appendages.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
This is indeed a strange happening.
Was there any pain in the testicle at or just after the orgasm 2 and a half months ago? How did the testicle look different? Did it have a deep reddish hue to it? Was it slightly larger in size with some pain or tenderness at the top of it where the epididymis is?
Do let me know answers to these questions.
What could have happened is that you could have had a mild torsion of the appendages of testicle which is known to happen in young boys specially during masturbation.
I can only say with certainty by examining you or seeing a picture and possibly doing a Doppler study.
But nothing needs to be done of you are fine now.
Do let me know as to how frequently do you masturbate.
Take care,

No there was no pain at all after orgasm. As for the look of the testicle, it's a bit smaller than it used to be, and it looks longer and thinner than the other, like it loss it's 'oval' shape; instead of an egg shape, it's more like a grape, if that makes sense. I don't really recall if it had a deep reddish hue to it. I do remember, however, at the height of the pain, the epididymis did feel a bit inflamed, but as I said, I've never had any discharge, so I pretty much ruled out epididymitis, especially since its been so long since this occurred. Before this happened, I masturbated no more than 3 times a week. But, since my penis takes so long to recover, (softness), I might do it once a week now, but I try to avoid doing it all together as I could just be doing more damage.

Brief Answer:
Please get an Ultrasound and Color Doppler done.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for the valuable and prompt inputs.
By your description it does seem that your affected testicle could have had some damage possibly due to torsion but I cant say that with certainty. I suggest you see a Urologist and get a Ultrasound of the testis to look for any abnormal areas and a Color Doppler of the scrotum to check whether the blood supply(Vascularity) to the testicle is maintained and normal.
If these tests are normal then there is no need to worry at all.
Is there a change in the size of the erect penis? If yes then by comparison how much would be the difference?
Do let me know if there are any other queries or concerns that I can help you with.
Take care and all the best,

No there has been no change in size when my penis is erect.

Only other question I can think of at this point would be: What if it turns out I do have a mild torsion of the appendages of the testicle, what would be done to correct that?

Brief Answer:
Treatment is surgical de-torsion in emergency cases. You dont need that.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
That is good news. The fact that there has been no change is nice.
About your question of what should be done.
Treatment of Torsion is detorsioning surgically and fixing the testicle in place with a three point suture fixation. Some Surgeons also fix the other side testicle during the same surgery to prevent any torsion damage to the other testicle. But this is usually done as an emergency or a semi emergency procedure as in most torsions there is a lot of pain which signals loss of blood supply to the testicle and imminent danger to the survival of the testicle. In your case, however, even if the Torsion did happen it would have been only of the appendage and not the testicle proper as you did not have any severe pain. So, danger to your testicle was probably not there at all or at maximum, would have been to a minimal degree as suggested by your degree of pain.
Therefore, I do not feel there is much to worry about at all.
Relax and once these tests come out normal you can rest assured that all is fine.
Take care and do let me know whenever you need to clarify any doubts or need an opinion.
