What Causes Pain In The Buttock In Patient With Non Hodgkin Lymphoma?

Question: Hi,
My name is XXXX. But currently I am here to ask about the condition of my father who is 72 years.
At 70, he was diagnoised with NHL Stage 2 A and has been treated with RCHOP and current;ly from last year he has been under maintenance therapy of Rituximab (500mg) every three months till 2 years. HE completed one year of this and is abolutely normal. Otherwise he doesnt have anything chronic - like diabetes. Takes a very low dosage dose for his BP which is almost not there. When he was 40 he had duodenum ulcer for which he had to lose the duodenum itself from which he recovered well.

Now off late, he finds a stabbing pain under his feet which told to the oncologist, he told it seems lik a case of periperal neuropathy. He suggested MECOnerve 1000 however the pain was not unbearable but a problem every day to him moving around as he loves to be out of bed.
From last two weeks he has a aching pain at his hip joint (left) almost near the center of his buttock till the thigh. I tried givng him vibratory toches with a massager I have and hot pain releiving oils, but it has not subceded. I am little worried, that though the pain is not unbearable but is a defenitely a problem of an ache bothering every movement of his. my question is wht should we do next? EVen if its a side effect of medications, any thing would releave from this pain and help him lead his good life again?

Brief Answer:
Meconerve1000 should help

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

I appreciate your history about your father. It is always a concern in cancer survivors.

I feel that the new pain in the back of the buttock could well be a result of Peripheral neuropathy that the Oncologist pointed out. This could be a result of the RCHOP regimen/Rituximab. I think you should just continue with the MECONERVE as suggested. Give it time to help relieve the pain. If this does not help further there are pain relievers especially for nerve pain like Gabapentin which can help further. There is a nerve that passing just under the greater buttock muscle that should have been involved.

When time permits you can take him to a local Orthopedic surgeon as well to rule out other cases on examination. He may suggest a lateral Xray to see if there is a nerve impingment.
